Laudato Si’ fails to proclaim Christ as the source of true change. This is the prophetic wound - and the correction the Church needs.
One of the most striking weaknesses of Laudato Si’ is not merely its ideological drift, nor its reliance on contested scientific narratives, nor its sentimental ecological tone.
The deeper issue — the prophetic wound — is this:
Laudato Si’ fails to proclaim Christ as the source of true change, true peace, and true harmony.
The encyclical speaks at length about:
- environmental degradation
- political structures
- economic systems
- global cooperation
- sustainable development
But it does not speak with fire about the only One who can renew creation:
Jesus Christ — Lord of Creation, Redeemer of Humanity, and the One through whom all things were made.
The crisis of the world is not climate - it is the absence of Christ in the human heart.
Section 1 - Internal Conversion

The document calls for ecological responsibility, political reform, economic restraint, and communal solidarity — but it does not confront the deeper truth:
We cannot heal the world if our souls remain unhealed.
We cannot purify creation if our hearts remain impure.
We cannot restore harmony if we are bound by sin, selfishness, and greed.
The crisis of creation is not primarily carbon — it is sin.
The crisis of ecology is not pollution — it is rebellion.
The crisis of the world is not climate — it is the absence of Christ in the human heart.
Creation is restored through repentance and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Section 2 - Renewal Begins With Christ

Creation is restored through repentance, conversion, sanctification, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit — not through treaties, policies, activism, or global summits.
This is the Catholic theology of creation.
This is the Gospel.
This is the prophetic voice the world needs.
But Laudato Si’ does not proclaim this.
Holy Father, remember your mission. The world does not need another manifesto - it needs Christ.
Section 3 - A Call to the Seat of Peter

This is not a condemnation of the papacy.
It is a prophetic plea:
Holy Father, remember your mission.
The world does not need another ecological manifesto.
The world needs Christ.
Proclaim Him boldly.
Proclaim Him fearlessly.
Proclaim Him without apology to a secular world that has forgotten God.
Open wide the doors to Christ!

📣 4. Contrast: The Prophetic Clarity of St. John Paul II
At World Youth Day 2000, St. John Paul II cried out:
“Do not be afraid! Open wide the doors to Christ!”
At World Youth Day 1993, he proclaimed:
“Young people of the world, proclaim Christ from the rooftops!”
At World Youth Day 1987, he declared:
“Christ is the answer to every human question.”
This is the voice the world remembers.
This is the voice the Church needs again.
This is the voice missing from Laudato Si’.
Creation will not be healed until humanity is healed.

And the Church must never be ashamed to proclaim Him.
